Seahorse Old Boys

Old Boys Day

August 2008

Seahorse Old Boys Day is a cherished annual fixture on the club's calendar.

The current players love it as much as the Old Boys, in that they have a decent, vocal and well lubricated crowd to play in front of. There was just one hitch this year. The Old Boys turned up in big numbers and from vast distances [Taree, Lithgow, Gilgandra, Evan and his wife made it out from Norway, etc.] but the Bathurst team failed to appear.

So, of course, following the dictates of the club motto, viz "Hippocampus sobrius planus est" we all headed for the club's water hole, the Royal Hotel and proceeded to display how we all had graduated with Bachelors of Inebriation.

In 2008, it must be recorded, the Old Boys cleaned up in the Boat races, the raffles and the Tall Stories dept.

The older we got the faster we ran, the bigger the crowds we amassed for our games, the huge contingent of groupies that used to follow us, and how a less than 5 keg post match BBQ was considered a beer drought.

So, next year's show could produce taller tales and we hope more can come along as a warm up to our club's 40th Anniversary celebrations in 2010.
